Day trip St John – Virgin Gorda Itinerary
We will leave St. John at 9:00 AM at Beach Bar or National Park dock for a pickup at Red Hook. From there we will head to Jost van Dyke for BVI check-in (alternatively Tortola West End) and then head to Virgin Gorda where we will stop at the Baths, a geological wonder comprised of awe-inspiring granite boulders as large as 40 feet in diameter, which form sheltered sea pools on the beach’s edge.
The cavernous surroundings are a result of the molten rock seeping up into the existing volcanic rock layers; because the molten rock did not reach the surface it cooled slowly and formed the hard crystalline granite layer. Further shrinkage and cracking formed blocks, which were exposed when the softer volcanic rock above eroded away. Weathering rounded the corners of the boulders to what they are today, one of the most spectacular tourist attraction in the Virgin Islands.
Depending on how much time we spend waiting at customs, other stops are possible on the way. We will leave Virgin Gorda for St. John around 2:30 PM, check in at customs there and then go back to Red Hook American Yacht harbour fuel dock (arriving at 4:30PM).
It will be on a long day on the water. We will have water and ice and plenty of space in our cooler, you might want to bring your own lunch. Alternatively we can arrange to pick-up lunch&snacks at a local deli and have it ready for you on the boat.
